"Virtual Tour 360 - Plzeňská Campus"

Interactive 3D Tour of the Plzeňská Campus

Before 1989, this was a military training ground. Today it's where our students spend their first three years learning anatomy, physiology and most of what comes before the hospital wards. The Plzeňská Campus takes its name from Plzeňská Street (not to be confused with the city of Plzeň) and sits right next to Motol University Hospital — the largest hospital in the Czech Republic and our main teaching base for clinical years.

Building A

Building A was finished in October 2022 — the final piece after fourteen years of construction on the campus. The second floor has classrooms for 20 to 60 students, the third floor holds a 200-seat auditorium nicknamed 'Macocha', and the fourth floor has consultation rooms and a rooftop terrace where students take their coffee between lectures. It's home to the Department of Epidemiology, the Department of Languages and the Department of Ethics.

'Macocha' Lecture Hall — 200 seats, named by students after a famous Moravian gorge.

The vestibule of Building A doubles as the campus's social heart — it's where the faculty hosts Noc fakulty ("Faculty Night") and Motol Art, an exhibition of artwork by students and staff. Between events, it's simply where everyone crosses paths on the way to a lecture.
The rooftop terrace — a favourite spot for studying or a coffee break in good weather.

Faculty Night

Noc fakulty ("Faculty Night"), organised by students in the Plzeňská Campus, is one of the biggest social events of the academic year.

Building B ('Earthworm')

Building B, nicknamed the 'Earthworm' for its shape and distinctive yellow staircase, replaced the original campus buildings in 2011 —  the first of the new buildings. Walking through it, you'll pass the histology floor, home to the Department of Histology and Embryology, with two study lounges named after staining techniques: one in eosinophilic pink, the other in haematoxylin blue.

Building C

Building C, adjoining Building B from 2011, was opened in September 2019. Through it, the faculty gained its own Department of Anatomy. It is also home to the Department of Biophysics, the Department of Pharmacology, the Department of Physiology and the Department of Pathological Physiology.

Department of Anatomy

Opened in 2019, our Department of Anatomy is one of the most modern in the country – and usually the first place that makes new students say "wow". Sixteen dissection tables sit alongside a virtual dissection table, an operating theatre for teaching clinical and surgical anatomy, ultrasound equipment, and a 3D printer used to produce anatomical models. Every year, the department opens its doors to the public during the Night of Science, when visitors can try the virtual dissection table themselves and take a guided tour of the dissection rooms.

The virtual dissection table lets students explore anatomy layer by layer, without a single scalpel.
