Your Community at the Second Faculty of Medicine
The Association of International Medical Students (AIMS) represents students of the English programme at the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. Founded in 2008, AIMS helps students connect, support one another, and make the most of their time at medical school.
What We Do
Build Community
AIMS organises popular student events throughout the year, including:
- Freshers' Week
- Welcome Party
- White Coat Ceremony
- Christmas and X-MAS events
- Valentine's Day Rose Giving
- Pub Quizzes
- Interfaculty parties
These events help students make friends, build connections, and feel at home in Prague.
Support New Students
Through the Pelican Buddy Project, first-year students are paired with experienced upper-year mentors who provide guidance on studying medicine and student life.
AIMS also helps organise Welcome Days and campus tours for new students.
Support Academic Development
In addition to social activities, AIMS organises practical workshops such as:
- Advanced Life Support (ALS)
- Cannulation workshops
- Clinical skills sessions
These events give students valuable hands-on experience beyond the curriculum.
Promote Wellbeing
AIMS supports student wellbeing through awareness campaigns, charity initiatives, and community events that encourage a healthy and supportive study environment.

Applications for committee positions open each October.
