The Open Day is the main presentation of the Second Faculty of Medicine for applicants, held in January. You will meet the faculty management, listen to lectures by scientists, talk to our students, and even try something out for yourself.
The Science Night & Meet the Faculty is a more playful and interactive presentation of the faculty, held at the Plzeňská Campus at the end of September or beginning of October. The emphasis is on workshops, demonstrations, multimedia, tours, and contact with our young researchers and doctors.

Doctor, Could You Translate That for Me?Every field has its own specific language – and healthcare is no exception. What kind of communication code do doctors use amongst themselves? Why do they have to change their language when speaking to a patient? Why do doctors from different corners of the world understand each other quite easily? And why is ‘doctor-speak’ comprehensible to experts, whilst it often seems like an indecipherable code to patients? Join us as we take a look at the world of medical terminology, uncover the hidden meanings of words in medical records, and discover that even complex terms have their own logic and their meaning can be easily deduced. You’ll try your hand at fun language games, unravel the mysteries of medical expressions, and by the end, you might find reading medical records a little easier than you did at the start. |
