The minute of 5th session of AS CU 2nd FM 21st May 2003

 
MUDr. Ondřej Hrušák, Ph.D., opened the academic senate session by welcoming the present members of the academic senate and specially the guests of the meeting doc. MUDr. J. Bartůňková, DrSc., doc. MUDr. J. Hercogová, CSc., prof. RNDr. Václav Pelouch, CSc., doc. MUDr. P. Zoban, prof. MUDr. Jan Herget, DrSc. and Ing. Eva Kuželová.
 
Checking of the previous Minutes was without any remarks.

Management of the Faculty submitted to the senate a proposal for the establishment of the Department of Anatomy 2nd Medical Faculty, Charles University and simultaneously a proposal to abolish the Functional Anatomy Laboratory 2nd Medical Faculty, Charles University. This change is supposed to be an organizational change. So far the 2nd Medical Faculty has shared the Functional Anatomy Laboratory with the Faculty of Physical Training and Sports (FTVS). Another important incentive for this basic organizational change is the demand of FTVS for payment for use of room.
Both submitted proposals are based on a common agreement of the Dean board with management of 1st Medical Faculty and are in line with the agreement with the head of Functional Anatomy Laboratory – meeting of the Dean board 24. 3. 2003. Newly-established department of 2nd Medical Faculty will reside in the room of the Department of Anatomy 1st Medical Faculty and it will be based on a contract.

Result: The academic senate expressed its consent with the establishment of the Department of Anatomy 2nd Medical Faculty, Charles University and to abolish the Functional Anatomy Laboratory.

 
The Dean's board in agreement with the management of the Motol University Hospital submitted to the senate a proposal for restructuring of the Pediatrics Clinic. The report with reasons is enclosed.
 
Restructuring of Pediatrics Clinics 2nd Medical Faculty, Charles University and Motol University Hospital

Result: The academic senate expressed an agreement by means of voting with the restructuring of I. and II. Pediatrics Clinic and agrees fully with the establishment of Pediatrics Clinic 2nd Medical Faculty, Charles University and Motol University Hospital.
 
Establishment of Paediatrics Clinic Haematology and Oncology 2nd Medical Faculty, Charles University and Motol University Hospital

Result: The academic senate expressed a consent by means of its voting with establishment of Paediatrics Clinic Haematology and Oncology 2nd Medical Faculty, Charles University and Motol University Hospital.

 
MUC. Ondřej Fiala outlined to the senate student opinions on the current syllabus of teaching Pharmacology and Pathology in the new curriculum of the Faculty and claimed that the syllabus is not ideal – students have several difficult exams and that could bring problems.

After discussion the senate decided to create a new suggestion which will be dealt with in the pedagogical commission of the senate. Any conclusion will be submitted to the Dean's board and to the scientific council of the Faculty.

1. Michal Pelíšek informed the senate about the rise of the student's association of 2nd Medical Faculty. Šárka Cihelková will inform the senate about activities of this association at the next senate session.
    
2. The Chairman of the senate MUDr. Ondřej Hrušák, Ph.D. appealed to all members of the pedagogical chamber of the senate for compliance when staffing the deputies of the senate at the competiton of the Faculty. The secretariat will keep a record of presence at the competitions.
    
3. The chairman of the senate discussed the name of the Faculty in English. 2nd Faculty of medicine has its origin in a former translation of faculties by the Chancellor's office. The senate endorses an opinion that the correct translation is 2nd Medical School. The senate will address the chairman of the senate of Charles University and discuss the problem.
    
4. Vice-Dean Bartůňková informed the senate about a change in publishing the Faculty bulletin Pelikán. Editorial board decided that Pelikán will be published Bi-monthly with another graphic design and quality. Suggestions for a new graphic design of Pelikán will be prepared by Ing. Cipryanová and will be published on the web sites of the Faculty. It will be possible to put this proposal to the vote. Contents of the bulletin was discussed as well. At the request of the members of the senate the academic senate session and scientific council Minutes will remain in it. The budget of a newly composed bulletin will not be increased.
    

• The next session of the academic senate formerly planned on Wednesday 18th June 2003 will be postponed because of entrance exams and will take place on Wednesday 25th June 2003 in the small left room of the Faculty at 2.30 p.m.
• The Minutes were sent to the Department of Languages for translation into English for the web sites of international students on 16th June 2003.
