The scientist from the Institute of Immunology, in collaboration with the Sotio Biotechnology Company, demonstrated that the presence of the protein calreticulin significantly influences the activation of the anti-tummor immune response and improves the prognosis of patients with lung carcinoma. She received the Česká Hlava in the Invention category.
The Academic Senate of the Second Faculty of Medicine, at its meeting on 17 October 2018, announced elections to the Academic Senate for the term of office from February 2019 to January 2021.

Marisa A. Nunes, a student of the fourth year at the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, became a winner of the Endocrinology section of one of the world's leading student congresses in (bio)medical sciences ISCOMS 2018 in Groningen, Holland.
Dr. Jitka Palich Fučíková (Department of Immunology, Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and Motol University Hospital) deals with the issue of immunogenic cell death and its role in the immunotherapeutic treatment of cancer. For her research, she won the prestigious award For Women in Science, awarded under the L'Oréal-UNESCO project, on June 4th.
