Professor Václav Hampl re-elected as Rector

Professor Vaclav Hampl will be rector of the Charles University once again for the next electoral term.
 
The academic senate of the Charles University decided 22nd October 2009 that current rector, prof. RNDr. Vaclav Hampl, DrSc., will be the rector of the Charles University in the next four-year functional term. The second functional term will begin for prof. V. Hampl on February 1, 2010.
 
Prof. V. Hampl was head of the university since February 1, 2006. He began his university career in Charles University's Department of Pathological Physiology then at the Faculty of Pediatrics. Later, he worked in the Department of Physiology of the 2nd Medical Faculty of the Charles University where he works up to now.

The vision of the current electoral agenda of Prof. Hampl is for ‘Charles University to become an internationally anchored institution of top science and education, as well as a place attractive and friendly to its students and workers, with a modern background and technology, and as a self-confident and cohesive society.’
 
The rector is voted by academic senate of Charles University in Prague which has 70 members (32 students and 36 teachers) at present. 61 voters took part in this year's elections. Prof. V. Hampl was the only candidate. The results of the elections in numbers are following: For 55, Against 4, Delayed 2.
