The minute of 7th session of AS CU 2nd FM 15th September 2004

 
Doc. MUDr. Ondřej Hrušák, Ph.D. opened the meeting and welcomed all present members of the academic senate and gave a special welcome to meeting guests – prof. MUDr. J. Koutecký, DrSc., prof. MUDr. J. Bartůňková, DrSc., prof. MUDr. J. Herget, DrSc., prof. MUDr. J. Šnajdauf, DrSc., doc. MUDr. P. Zoban, CSc., and Ing. E. Kuželová.

the Dean of the Faculty
 

1. The admission procedure of the students for the academic year 2004/2005 took place without problems including the appeal procedure at the Rectorate of Charles University. However, no students were admitted after an appeal.
2. The matriculation ceremony of the 1st year students will take place on 19th October 2004 in the Great Hall of Karolinum.
3. Based on the initiative of the senate members, the Faculty directorship has been concerned with the matter of the knowledge of the Czech language of international students. International students will have to accept the necessity of the knowledge of Czech in clinical disciplines. The Faculty directorship will pay attention to the level of teaching and consistency in the examinations in the Czech language.
4. Competition for the post of the Head of the Department of Cardiology was cancelled and after a successful negatiation, there was annnounced a new competition procedure in cooperation with the Director of the Motol University Hospital.
5. Situation in recruiting of international students for the academic year 2004/2005 has significantly improved, compared with the previous period. The actual number of the admitted international students will be available on the 4th October 2004.
6. At the next meeting of the academic senate the Faculty directorship will inform in detail whether the Department of Cardiology will be established at the 2nd MF or not in the Central Military Hospital.
7. In connection with the damage due to the fire in the building of the theoretical and preclinical departments the Dean negotiated with the Minister of Education. The Ministry expressed its support and possibility of financial aid up to 5 mil. CZK. The damage will be further recovered from the sums obtained from the insurance company and the Rectorate of Charles University. At present it is necessary to state the concrete amount of the damages.

1. Vice-Dean Herget informed the senate about elimination of the damages caused by the fire in the building of theoretical and preclinical departments, which originated in the corridor of the Department of Biophysics. At present there is hired a decontamination firm which will dispose of the burnt tract of the building and cleaning up of the neighbouring departments. After completing their work the firm will produce a hygienic certificate. The Faculty management is solving the question of alternative offices and lecture rooms for the affected workplaces. The opening of the education at the beginning of the academic year is not endangered.

1. For the academic year 2004/2005 there were admitted 174 students who were divided into 12 groups.
2. The registration of the students for examinations via e-mail will work through the entrance password which will be alotted to each student. The passwords will be obtained from dr. Naidr of the Department of Medical Informatics.

For the students who had resigned, the following members were appointed to the commissions of the students chamber of the AS.
 

 
The academic senate approved by common consent the proposal for the change of the article 11 of the Rule of Procedure and Election of the academic senate of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University – expiration of the mandate and completing the senate.
The new reading of the article:

The mandate of a senate member terminates before expiration of the term of office in accordance with article 23 of the Faculty statutes. In this case, the rest of the term is served by a substitute. If, due to expiration of the mandate, any community fails to be represented in the academic senate, the leaving member is replaced by the substitute with the highest number of votes in the same community. If there is no such a substitute or the particular community of the senate is represented by another senate member, it will be the substitute with the highest number of votes regardless the community in which he/she was elected.

1. The agenda concerning the extension of the teaching of practical medicine was postponed to the next session of the senate.
    

• Next session of the academic senate will take place on Weds, 20th October 2004 at 2.30 p.m. in the small left lecture hall at the Faculty.
