The minute of 8th session of AS CU 2nd FM 20th October 2004

 
Doc. MUDr. Ondřej Hrušák, Ph.D. opened the meeting and welcomed all present members of the academic senate and gave a special welcome to meeting guests – prof. MUDr. J. Koutecký, DrSc., prof. RNDr. V. Pelouch, CSc., prof. MUDr. J. Herget, DrSc., prof. MUDr. J. Šnajdauf, DrSc., doc. MUDr. P. Zoban, CSc., and Ing. E. Kuželová.

1. Registration of the students into 1st year and to higher years was without any problems at the beginning of the academic year and so was the matriculation ceremony.
2. Liquidation of the consequnces after the fire at Plzeňská street still continues. The Dean has expressed his thanks to all who participate in it. Unofficial estimate of the damage is 35 million CZK.
3. Profesor Vízek was appointed the member of the Accreditation commission for habilitations and appointing the professors.
4. Management of the Faculty submitted a proposal to the academic senate to establish II. Department of Surgery 2nd Medical Faculty, CU and Central Military hospital (further CMh) with reasoning of pros and cons of this step. Economic load for the Faculty was evaluated in the disscussion. New department would dispose of small jobs and it would belong to the small departments i.e. annual costs approximately 800.000 to 1.000.000 CZK. As far as the teaching process one or two groups of surgery would be taught there. With regard to the increased number of students it is regarded as a positive measurement for improvement of the teaching process in surgery.
   In conclusion the senate voted at strength of 16 members if to vote at this session about the establishment the II. Department of Surgery. By voting (11-6-0) they aproached another voting.

   Result: The senate by means of its voting approved of establishment of the II. Department of Surgery 2nd MF, CU and Cmh.
5. The Dean of the Faculty further informed the senate about the letter in which the representatives of the ENT department 2nd MF support the offer to establish another ENT department in CMh. The senate has expressed its support to the management of the Faculty for the further negotiations about possible establishment of common ENT department in CMh.

 
Prof. RNDr. Helena Tomášová, CSc., the chairwoman of the election committee for election of the new members of the acadenmic senate CU 2nd MF and representatives of the Faculty in the academic senate, informed about the preparations of the elections.

First election round will take place on 2nd and 3rd November 2004, second round on 1st and 2nd December 2004 at the polling addresses:

In conclusion prof. Tomášová called on all members of the academic community to participate in the elections. She pointed out that participation of 30 % of the members of pedagogical community as well as students comunity is absolutely necessary to consider these elections to be valid. If the number was lower it would be necessary to repeat the elections.

 
Prof. Vízek brought up an issue concerning the increase of admitted students to the 2nd Medical Faculty, CU. Prof. Vízek expressed increasing of teaching process in percents from 2000 to 2004 and decrease of pedagogical posts at theoretical and pre-clinical departments.
The senate has asked the management of the Faculty to submit a conception of 2nd Medical Faculty. This conception will be dealt with at the senate session in February 2005.

1. On the basis of MUDr. Válková's apply to prolong teaching of practical medicine for one week the vice-Dean Zoban asked students to express their opinion by an e-mail.
    
2. The chairman of the senate doc. Hrušák authorized the members of the legislative commission to concern themselves with a question how will the departments with a small number of job posts integrate into the frame of the Faculty as far as the internal regulations and the status of the Faculty. He authorized the members of the commission to deal with the changes in the internal regulations with a Faculty lawyer.
    
3. MUC. David Major informed the senate about the dealing of the disciplinary board which was summoned up to discuss the matter of deception by student Tomáš Petružela.
    

• Next session of the academic senate will take place on Weds, 24th November 2004 at 2.30 p.m. in the small left lecture hall at the Faculty.
