The minute of 6th session of AS CU 2nd FM 12th June 2002

 
Doc. MUDr. Petr Zoban, CSc. opened the academic senate session, welcomed the present senate members and gave a special reception to the meeting guests, to prof. MUDr. Josef Koutecký, DrSc., doc. MUDr. Jiřina Bartůňková, DrSc., prof. MUDr. Jan Herget, DrSc.and Ing. Eva Kuželová.
The Minutes were approved with no changes.

 
The Faculty Dean informed the senate about the following issues:

• The Faculty Management prepared the Faculty Annual Report for 2001 year, the Faculty economy was favourable.
• The proposal on the distribution of University Dormitories according to the Rector´s provision No 5/2002 was adopted with no changes and sent to the Rector´s Office CU.
• The celebration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Czech Paediatric Hospital was held on 6. 6. 2002. The THM and the 2nd Faculty of Medicine organised a gala assembly and thus celebrated this anniversary in the great hall Karolinum, and celebrated this event by the establishment of a Transplant Center in THM and by a festive conference in the main lecture hall in THM.
• The entrance examination procedures for applicants for Study at the 2nd Faculty of Medicine are properly arranged and will take place on 17.–19. 6. 2002.
• The Minister of Health of CR granted the application of prof. MUDr. J. Hořejší, DrSc. and relieved him of his function of the Head of Gynaecology-Obstetrics Clinic. Prof. Hořejší will be at the head of the Clinic until a new Head is appointed.

 
The Dean of the Faculty put forward to the senate a proposal on the establishment of the Department of Epidemiology of the CU 2nd Faculty of Medicine. Doc. MUDr. Dana Göpfertová, CSc. made comments on the proposal:

• The discipline focuses on the clinical epidemiology which makes the basis of university students teaching.
• The mergence of the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology was formal, the Departments focal point is the field of preventive care.
• The fusion of these two departments causes a few organisational difficulties.
• The discipline and the subject of epidemiology deserves a certain authority and identical objectives for students teaching.
• The staffing of the discipline will be ensured, prof. Janout from UP Faculty of Medicine Olomouc working in the field of clinical epidemiology takes a part-time job at the Department.
• The establishment of the Department means that there appears a certain motivational factor which helps to develop scientific activities.

Result: The members of the academic senate expressed their consent with the establishment of the Department of Epidemiology of CU 2nd Faculty of Medicine, coming into force on 1. 10. 2002.

 
The Vice-dean doc. MUDr. Jiřina Bartůňková, DrSc. informed the senate about the intention of the Faculty Management to establish at the 2nd Faculty of Medicine:

1. Bachelor Study Programmes
   • Nursing
   • Laboratory Technigues
   • Imaging Technigues and the application of ionizing radiation
2. Master Study Programmes
   • Public Health and management
   • Physiotherapy

Result: The academic senate took into account the Vice-Dean´s information.

1. The academic senate oficially announced the elections of the candidate for the Dean of CU 2nd Faculty of Medicine. The time limit for handing in candidates proposals is set from 1. 7. 2002 to 18. 10. 2002.

2. Michal Pelíšek informed about the session of the ASCU of the 17th May 2002:
   • The Rector reported on the preparations of universities budgets for 2003. There were 44 404 application forms for Master and Bachelor Study Programmes, 1932 for Doctoral Studies. The age average of Associate Professors and Professors at CU is rising, in both categories the age average raised by two years and reached 48 years with Associate Professors and 55 years with Professors.
   • The announcement of the elections of a candidate for the Rector´s office on 17. 5. 2002. 3. 10. 2002 is the last day for handing in Rector CU candidates proposals, the introduction of candidates takes place on 18. 10. and the election of the Rector will be held on 30. 10. 2002. If a candidate is not elected new proposals will be put up until 13. 11. 2002, the presentation of candidates will take place on 15. 11. 2002 and the re-elections on 22. 11. 2002.
   • The ASCU approved the proposal on the Internal Regulations comprosong changes of the Study and Examination Rules of CU 2nd Faculty of Medicine.
   • An investment plan was submitted which is a result of an intensive cooperation of the faculties and other university departments. The document will be annually updated and will be used at negotiations with the Ministry of Education and Science concerning the investment grant. The following fact emerged from the discussion: the essential part of the programme is the list of projects not financial demands. The idea of an integrated background of CU is not feasible because of the extent and the present state of CU.
   • The Members of the pedagogical chamber of ASCU think that it is reasonable to make the evaluations of lessons and teaching when registering for higher grades. The most transparent form of entrance examination seems to be the publishing of question sets before the entrance examination are organised.
      
3. Ms Naďa Mikešová, the Representative of Bachelor programmes students informed the senate about a few points that prevent the improvement of the Bachelor programmes students teaching, especially in clinical subjects. The Faculty Directorate requires more detailed information.
    
4. Doc. MUDr. Petr Zoban, CSc. informed the senate about the KD consent with the proposal of doc. MUDr. Jan Vavřinec, DrSc., the Head of the 2nd Paediatric Clinic CU 2nd Faculty of Medicine and TH in Motol, to provide practical teaching of Paediatric Propedeutics in Charity Sisters Hospital st. Karel Boromejský. A contract on cooperation is needed.
    

• The next session of the academic senate will be held on the 18th of September 2002 at 2.30 in the left small lecture hall.
