David Major opened the meeting of the academic senate by welcoming of all present members especially the guests: prof. MUDr. J. Koutecký, DrSc., prof. MUDr. J. Bartůňková, DrSc., prof. MUDr. J. Herget, DrSc., prof. RNDr. V. Pelouch, CSc., prof. MUDr. J. Šnajdauf and doc. MUDr. P. Zoban, CSc.

Dean of the Faculty
 

1. Vice-Rector of Charles University Ms. Kvasničková asked the Faculty to submit to the Rector´s office by 30th May a list of 22 students who can, based on given criteria, preferentially get the accommodation in the University hostels.
2. Manager of the Motol University Hospital expressed his disapproval with prolongation of term of office of prof. MUDr. J. Hořejší, DrSc. in the post of the head of the Department of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology. Based on this fact, the Faculty management will ask for closing down of this department. Prof. Hořejší will be appointed by the Czech Ministry of Health to manage the department till its administrative closing.

Vice-Dean for the Study of Theoretical and Pre-clinical disciplines
 

1. Vice-Dean Pelouch informed the senate about the Faculty´s decision as for the discussion concerning the concurrence of Pharmacology and Pathology. As a result of the agreement with prof. Švihovec, there is enough terms for the examinations. The teaching of Pharmacology will be a matter of further negotiations between Vice-Dean Pelouch and prof. Švihovec.
2. The Study department has been participating in the database of students for the electronic elections and voting.
3. At its next meeting, the Faculty management will submit the proposed changes in the study and Examination Rules of the Faculty.

 
In the event participated also dr. Feberová, a member of the committee for the teaching evaluation at Charles University. She presented the results of the teaching evaluation at the Faculty. Chairman of the students chamber of the senate proposed a new scope of questions for the questionnaire for the evaluation of the teaching. These new questions will be available on the senate websites for the discussion.
The senate dealt with the problem of the output of the questionnaire, there was a discussion how to attract the maximum possible number of respondents. The senate members proposed to connect the filling of the questionnaire with the electronic registration for the examination.
MUDr. Ivo Minárik, a postgraduate student, evaluated the quality of teaching as a Faculty graduate. He stated that the greatest problem, in his opinion, is the practical clinical teaching. He mentioned inadequate utilization of the time intended for the practical teaching of clinical subjects and typical manifestations. He pointed out lack of interest of teachers as well as departments (as a frequent example, there was mentioned the department providing the teaching of internal medicine) in teaching of students, late coming of teachers for the classes...

1. The meeting of evaluation committees of medical faculties will take place 1. 6. 2005 at our faculty. The committee will meet at 2.00 p.m. with the students chamber and at 3.00 p.m. with the pedagogical chamber.
    
2. The senate´s disciplinary committee adopted another member – Ondřej Suchánek.
    
3. Doc. MUDr. Ondřej Hrušák, Ph.D. will, at the next session of the Dean´s College, present the prevailing negative opinion on shifting the teaching of special pharmacology to individual clinical subjects.
    
4. The voting concerning the resolution of the proposed candidate for the Rector of Charles University, will be included into the programme of the meeting in June.
    

• The next meeting of the academic senate will take place on Wednesday 15th June 2005 at 2.30 p.m. in the small left lecture hall at the Faculty.
