The minute of 2nd session of AS CU 2nd FM 20th February 2002

 
Doc. MUDr. Petr Zoban, CSc., the chair of the AS, opened the meeting by welcoming the present members. He gave a special cordial reception to the meeting guests, to prof. MUDr. Josef Koutecký, DrSc., prof. MUDr. Jan Herget, DrSc., doc. MUDr. Jana Hercogová, CSc., prof. MUDr. Jiří Šnajdauf, DrSc., prof. RNDr. Václav Pelouch, CSc., Ing. Eva Kuželová, doc. MUDr. Pavel Kasal, CSc., Ing. MUDr. Jan Vejvalka.

• The Subdean doc. MUDr. Jana Hercogová, CSc., submitted the senate a proposal concerning the change of the internal regulation in the point of the individual study programme, art. 10 of the Study and Examination Regulations of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine Charles University. The proposal enables students to take other subjects from higher grade when extending one study year into two years. The proposal is to be discussed at the next meeting of the academic senate.
   
  The students chamber of the senate asked the Faculty management to present the changes of the new Faculty curriculum at the next AS meeting on the 23rd of March 2002.
• The Subdean prof. RNDr. Václav Pelouch, CSc., informed the senate in the following points:
  1. An exhibition of Medical students art works is held in Faust House on the 4th of April 2002 at 6 p.m.
  2. International students who took some other subjects from higher grade as it is possible in compliance with the change of the Study and Examination Regulations in the point of repeating the year, art. 9, paragr. 6, did not fulfil their study duties – they did not pass the higher grade exams. The academic senate confirmed, that the repeated year was only terminated on condition that all study duties including passing the higher year exams are fulfiled.
      
• The Secretary of the Faculty Ing. Eva Kuželová informed the senate in the following points:
  1. The financial rewards will be paid out in the payment´s office in the Dean´s office on the 20.–21. 3. 2002
  2. the Faculty received 9 applications for the maintenance grants from the Adams foundation for socially weak students, they were all approved, the grant makes 1 000 Kc per month
  3. the economic results for 2001:

Doc. MUDr. Pavel Kasal, CSc. and MUDr. Ing. Jan Vejvalka were invited to discuss this point. The senate was presented the current structure of www pages along with the comparison of other faculties and organisations pages. The students chamber pointed out these shortcomings of the www pages:

• some Departments and Clinics of the Faculty have no:
  • subject abstracts
  • schedules
  • recommended literature
• there is no list of students telling their circles/groups
• there is no special place devoted to educational stays abroad
• there is no English presentation of the Faculty
• the Faculty is insufficiently included in explorers
   

The senate asked the Faculty management to support the improvement of the www pages structure.

 
In compliance with the requirement of the chair of the Main electoral board of the senate of Charles University and the report of the main electoral board of the AS Charles University, the elections of the representatives of the Students Community of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine Charles University were not approved because of the insufficient number of voters – the minimum 15 % was not reached. Out of the total 1490 (students) rightful voters 195 participated, i.e. 13.08 %, 195 voting papers were část, 195 valid.
The repeated elections will be held on the 26,27 and 28th of February 2002 on these voting spots:

• The office of the Department of Pathological Physiology
• The office of the Clinic of Infectious Diseases
• The office of the Department of Physical Education
