Dear colleagues, dear web visitors,
last summer 2nd Faculty of Medicine signed the Erasmus contract on partnership with Università Degli Studi Di L’Aquila. As you probably all know, the Italian university was hugely devastated in the earthquake last week, most of the city of Aquila was destroyed including student colleges, over 1000 people were hurt or died.
I have offered L´Aquila´s Faculty of Medicine that our faculty is ready to accept more of their Erasmus students than stated in our contract. Moreover, we are also ready to arrange for short time educational stays of Aquila students if so required by the Italian side. Aquila will inform us whether there are further means of help we can participate in.
I understand that in case of such large catastrophes the main help must be covered by the state or EU resources. We should understand that our support will have mostly a symbolic value. However I believe it is worth it. Anyone who is willing to contribute may do so by sending a gift to the account number 43-4563180277/0100. The account was established by our Faculty solely for the purpose of collecting funds for Aquila. The bank statements as well as any news regarding our help to Aquila will be displayed daily on our web sites.
I hope we will show Aquila that it does not stand alone in the troublesome circumstances.
