Department of Surgery (Central Military Hospital)

Departmental Focus:

The Department of Surgery provides diagnostic and therapeutic care within the whole spectrum of general elective and acute surgery, participates in treatment of polytraumatised patients and patients with associated injuries, including injuries of the thorax. In elective surgery, the clinic spezializes primarily in the surgical treatment of the hepatopancreatobiliary region including liver and spleen resection. Laparoscopic fundoplication, operations of the stomach during morbid obesity and laparoscopic treatment of inguinal and ventral hernias.

The Department of Surgery participates in the introduction of robotic surgery into clinical practice as a part of mini-invasive surgery in operation branches. Furthermore the department is concerned with the treatment of the thyroid gland, parathyroid glands and problems with breast diseases. Some procedures concerning the periferal, arterial and venous systems are also carried out at the department.

Undergradute and postgraduate courses in the branch of surgery, experiments upon laboratory animals and clinical experiments are also part of the clinic.
