More Than a Hundred of the World's Leading Diabetologists Have Met in Motol

The 7th Meeting of the EASD Study Group on the Genetics of Diabetes (EASD-SGGD) was held from 16 to 18 May 2019. The host institution was the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, that is focused on research in paediatric medicine and genetics; the meeting took place at Motol University Hospital in Prague. It was opened by Prof. Jan Lebl and Dr. Štěpánka Průhová (both from the Department of Paediatrics), members of the Meeting’s Organisation Committee.

The mission of SGGD is to promote research into the genetic basis of all forms of diabetes, as well as to promote the interaction and transfer of knowledge between basic scientists and the clinical community. Also, at its 7th meeting in 2019, the participants gained the opportunity to present and discuss the latest achievements in the field of genetics of diabetes, its complications and related conditions, their impact on medical understanding and the improvement of patient care.

The scientific programme included a mixture of keynote lectures, invited talks, and oral and poster presentations. The participants not only enjoyed the science and novel medical knowledge, but also the charm of the city of Prague.
