Dear colleagues,

Allow me to inform you about the newest Dean’s Provisions, regarding the forms in which teaching and examination will continue.

Very soon, the Academic Senate of Charles University will discuss the Extraordinary Rules for Study at Charles University, which should come into effect at the beginning of April. Article 2 of these rules provides for the possibility of distance learning and Article 3 outlines the rules for study checks, i.e. testing, using distance methods. This includes state final examinations, state rigorous examinations, state doctoral examinations, and for doctoral thesis defenses. The Dean will decide on enabling final state examinations in a distance form. This rule also regulates the publication of dates of testing and the time frames between individual State Final Examinations.

On 26 March 2020, the Rector of Charles University issued Provision No. 11/2020 on the basis of which I will issue the Dean’s Provision extending the summer semester until 30 September 2020 (rather than the original 30 June 2020). The summer examination period thus will include at least the period from 1 to 31 July 2020 and the period from 1 to 18 September 2020. This Rector’s Provision also abolishes the Rector’s Day.

I would like to remind you that for all employees and students of our faculty, there is a telephone contact (+420 771 139 740) in the case you are experiencing health problems and are seeking information.

We realize that you are in a difficult situation, many of you are currently abroad and your return can be complicated. I would like to assure you that after your return we will take into account your situation and, if necessary, deal with each case individually. I believe that together we will overcome this difficult period.

Let us not lose our hope, or our courage.

Wishing for your health and strength,

Prof. MUDr. Vladimír Komárek, CSc.
Dean
