Methodological instruction for exams at Charles University 2nd Faculty of Medicine

General rules for exams are adjusted in Study and Examination Rules of Charles University in article 6, par. 13–16. The following completes the Rules for the organization of studies at Charles University 2nd Faculty of Medicine:

  1. Examination questions must be released at least 14 days before opening of the particular examination period.
  2. The examination begins by drawing questions. The method of drawing and the number of questions is determined by the Head of the Department. If the student gives up after the beginning of the exam, he is classified as „failed“. The student can leave the examination room only with the consent of the examiner during the exam. If the student leaves the room, then the examiner is entitled to change the questions.
  3. The student is entitled for an adequate time for preparation for his exam. If the preparation exceeds the usual time for the particular subject, the examiner can terminate the student’s preparation.
  4. The examiner is entitled to determine the order of the answers for the drawn questions and he can ask complementary questions.
  5. The examination is terminated by the decision of the examiner.
  6. The student is not allowed to use any materials during the preparation except for those which where permitted by the Head of the Department and which were released together with the examination questions. All other materials, including mobile phones or electronic diary, are to be placed separately. Any attempt at gaining forbidden information during the preparation means instant termination of the exam, classification of the exam as ‘failed’ and possible disciplinary action with the student. Using of mobile phone during the exam, including answering the phone, is inadmissible as well as the use of student’s own electronic aids as e.g. electronic diary.
  7. A second re-sit takes place in the presence of a commission determined by the Head of the Department.
  8. The student can also ask the Head of the Department to take the exam in the presence of the commission at the regular exam and first re-sit. If the Head of the Department refuses then it is up to the Dean to make the decision.
