Summer Training – Surgery

Curriculum of the summer professional training in surgery

(Duration – two weeks, during summer holidays after the 5th year)

The aim of the practice is to instruct the students on routine daily running of the surgical clinic – work at the outpatient department, ward rounds and work at the in-patient ward, assistance in surgeries and treatment of minor injuries.

Basic requirements for practical skills during the practice:

  • complete clinical examination of the patient
  • assisting in dressing wounds, dressing of postoperative wounds with removal of stitches
  • assisting in surgeries at the operation theatre
  • surgical treatment of minor open wounds
  • assisting in treatment of fractures of extremities at the out-patient ward
  • assisting in the night duty

Certificate on completion of the summer practice with the stamp of the particular department and signature with the doctor responsible for the ward will be recorder in the student’s index.
