Two young researchers affiliated with the Second Faculty of Medicine at Charles University are among the winners of the prestigious 2026 Albert Schweitzer Prize for Medicine, which is awarded annually by the French Embassy in the Czech Republic for the best research work by young physicians and doctoral students. The awards ceremony took place on 26 June at the French Embassy in Prague and was attended by Prof. Jean-Marie Lehn, winner of the 1987 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
First place in the competition went to MUDr. Štěpán-Ota Schütz of the Department of Surgery at the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, and the Central Military Hospital in Prague, who is enrolled in the Experimental Surgery programme. He received the award for his research focused on multimodal perioperative monitoring for the early prediction and prevention of postoperative pancreatic fistulas following pancreatic resections.
Among the award recipients, MUDr. Alžběta Šantová, a doctoral student in the Nutritional and Metabolic Sciences programme at the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, took second place. Her research is closely linked to the Second Faculty of Medicine, as her advisors are Prof. Zdeněk Šumník and Assoc. Prof. Vít Neuman, who are affiliated with the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University.
The success of both laureates confirms the high standard of scientific work among young researchers and, at the same time, underscores the prominent position of the Second Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in the field of biomedical research and the training of a new generation of clinical scientists.

Student doktorského studia MUDr. Michael Svatoň získal Cenu Alberta Schweitzera
Student doktorského studia MUDr. Michael Svatoň získal Cenu Alberta Schweitzera v oboru lékařství, kterou každoročně uděluje francouzské velvyslanectví mladým talentovaným vědcům. Cena byla dr. Svatoňovi udělena za jeho přínos k využití sekvenování nové generace v diagnostice krevních onemocnění u dětí se zvláštním zřetelem k publikaci v prestižním časopisu Blood (IF 17,8), ve které popsal prvního pacienta s vrozenou megaloblastickou anémií z deficitu folátů v důsledku vrozené mutace genu buněčného folátového transporteru.

On 19 May, the Second Faculty hosted the nationwide Albert Schweitzer Prize competition, organised by the French Embassy. Dr. Martina Pařízková from the Department of Neurology won second place.

Klára Roženková z Pediatrické kliniky a Olga Zimmermannová z CLIPu získaly první, resp. druhou Cenu Alberta Schweitzera za rok 2015. Ocenění výzkumných prací českých studentů v oblasti lékařství společně pořádají Francouzské velvyslanectví a společnost Pierre Fabre Médicament. Na 2. lékařskou fakultu putuje potřetí za sebou.
Cena A. Schweitzera udělena v roce 2014 i 2013 L. Slámové a I. Heřmanové
Studentky doktorského studia MUDr. Lucie Slámová (2014) a Mgr. Ivana Heřmanová (2013) získaly Cenu Alberta Schweitzera za lékařství, kterou uděluje Francouzské velvyslanectví spolu se společností Pierre Fabre (viz přiložený obrázek). Jedná se o ocenění výzkumných prací českých studentů v oblasti lékařství – tedy doktorandů všech lékařských a farmaceutických fakult. Oceněné práce se zabývaly výzkumem dětské akutní leukémie.
Cenu Alberta Schweitzera za rok 2014 získala Lucie Slámová z 2. LF
Letošní laureátkou Ceny Alberta Schweitzera je Lucie Slámová, doktorandka z laboratoří CLIP a Kliniky dětské hematologie a onkologie. Na 2. lékařskou fakultu putuje toto ocenění již potřetí za sebou.
Cenu Alberta Schweitzera za rok 2013 získala studentka naší fakulty – Mgr. Ivana Heřmanová
Dne 20. června 2013 převezme hlavní cenu na recepci v Buquoyském paláci, sídle Francouzského velvyslanectví, studentka 2. LF UK Mgr. Ivana Heřmanová.
