Prof. Marek Babjuk elected candidate for dean of the Second Faculty of Medicine at Charles University for a second term

At its meeting on 19 November 2025, the Academic Senate of the Second Faculty of Medicine of Charles University elected Prof. Marek Babjuk as the candidate for dean of the faculty for another four-year term from 1 February 2026 to 31 January 2030. Prof. Babjuk, who has headed the faculty since 2022 and was the only candidate nominated, received support for continuing his work in the first round, with 21 of the 22 senators present voting in his favor.

"I greatly appreciate the people I have had the opportunity to meet at our faculty. People with enormous talent, ambition, and aspirations. And for me, it is very pleasant and fulfilling to lead such a faculty," said Prof. Babjuk after the election.

The candidate for dean is elected by the faculty's academic senate, while the appointment itself is made by the university rector. After confirmation by the rector, Prof. Babjuk will officially continue to lead the faculty from 1 February 2026

Prof. Marek Babjuk (*1961) graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine at Charles University. Since 1994, he has worked as an assistant professor at the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, obtaining his habilitation in 2003 and being appointed professor in 2009. Since that same year, he has been the head of the Urology Clinic of the Second Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and Motol University Hospital, and since 2022, he has been its dean.
