Departmental Focus:

Complete diagnostic and therapeutic care of children and adolescents with neoplastic diseases. Care of adult oncologically ill patients, including radiotherapy of adult and childhood tumours. Diagnostics and therapy of non-oncological haematological disorders in children. Haemophilia centre for children. Haematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation in children with malignant tumours, haematological disorders, inborn metabolic disorders and grave immunodeficiencies. Research: molecular-biological detection of diagnostically and prognostically important features and minimal residual disease in leukaemias and some kind of solid tumours. Experimental therapy of childhood tumours.

Instruction of both basic and specialized paediatric and adult oncology. Compulsory-optional courses of ‘Selected chapters from oncology’, ‘Modern diagnostics in oncohaematology’, ‘Methods of molecular genetics and basis of scientific work’. Coursed of haematology. Share in teaching paediatrics and immunology. Instruction centre of postgraduate doctoral studies in biomedicine, the field of ‘Biology and Pathology of Cell’, ‘Molecular biology, genetics and virology’ and ‘Immunology’.
