Charles University's 2nd Faculty of Medicine offers you a six-year full-time M.D. study programme in General Medicine. Our Faculty, as part of the largest teaching hospital in the Czech Republic, provides modern and comprehensive teaching methods. Graduates gain a broad education and acquire skills in all branches of medicine, especially in Paediatrics. The 2nd Faculty of Medicine, together with Motol Teaching Hospital, is a respected educational and research centre.

An outstanding M.D. Study Programme in General Medicine
The faculty provides a six-year full-time study programme of general medicine under high-quality conditions which meet European standards. Graduates are awarded the degree ‘Doctor of General Medicine’ (MUDr.).
Our School of Medicine encourages a high quality educational performances; therefore, the best students are refunded a significant proportion of their tuition expenses.
 
The study programme for international students is identical to the study programme for Czech students. The curriculum involves theoretical and pre clinical subjects (first to third years) followed by the clinical subjects (fourth to sixth years). At the end of the third of study, students are obliged to pass an exam in the Czech language to be able to communicate with patients and nursing staff during studies of clinical subjects. The teaching process is based on modern audio visual and computer techniques, with special attention being paid to practical aspects of teaching. During the programme the student is also supposed to demonstrate his/her scientific research abilities.
 
Students also have at their disposal classrooms with computer facilities, a library offering foreign-language literature, and a student club. During their studies students have an opportunity to take part in summer and winter sport courses.
 
Conditions for Transfer
The Dean of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine can permit an admission without the entrance exam only in the case that the applicant is simultaneously a regular student in the same field of study (i.e. medicine) at another Faculty of Medicine and is able to fulfill all our transfer conditions.
 
International recognition

  • The degrees are fully recognized in all EU countries. The Faculty is also recognized in the USA on a federal level.
  • For information on licensing process to practise medicine is necessary to contact professional body of relevant country.
  • Students are entitled to participate in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (Federal School Code G33003); (available only for USA students)
